All Team Information
The 1st XI competes in North Wales Cricket League Division 2. In 2008 and 2009, the 1st XI finished runners up in Division 4, then Division 3, to ensure promotion to the Division they are currently in. Last season the 1st XI finished 3rd, and just missed out on promotion to Division 1.
The team is captained by Phil Huckridge, with Darren Jones being the vice-captain.
In this team there are a mixture of experienced cricketers and some less experienced younger players, to help the younger players get a taste of a high level of senior cricket.
The 2nd XI will this season compete in North wales Cricket League Division 6. At the end of the 2007 season the 2nd XI went and Gwersyllt had just one senior team, but in 2010 the 2nd XI team returned, comprising of mainly youngsters, and an experienced captain to help them along the way. In 2010 the 2nd XI won the Sunday 3rd XI Division, as the league allowed them into that Division, as that is aimed at youth development, which was what the team aim was and what the team comprised of.
This team is captained by Paul Maloney, with Dale Jones vice-captain.
The Midweek XI compete in Division 7 of the Chester and District Midweek Cricket League and has similar aims to the 2nd XI - Youth development. The team comprises fully of young players when all are available, senior players had to stand in at times due to players being unavailable but for most games last season the oldest player was 18, and they have not yet been promoted or relegated from Division 7, which has some good senior teams competing in it.
The Midweek XI Captain is Dale Jones, Jake James is the vice-captain.
In the 2011 season we will also have 3 youth teams, Under 9s, Under 11s and Under 13s, the under 9s and under 11s both had a good season last season and produced some fantastic results. There are some great young players coming through and there are a high number of young players coming through. This season we have the addition of the Under 13s, an age group we haven't had for a couple of years, and now the young players are getting older has enabled us to add the under 13s. However the Under 15s team of 2010 are now too old, so we have had to withdraw this team for the 2011 season.
We also have a number of coaches. Phil Huckridge and Mike Archer will share the running of the Under 9s and Under 11s, where as Ron Pearson and Dale Jones will be running the Under 13s.
There are other numerous coaches to help cover matches, and will help at practice, including Darren Jones and Bryn Jones.
Finally, we have an Under 12s, and Under 16s competing in the Winter Indoor Cricket League starting in January. A number of coaches will be helping the running of this tournament.
